IUBAR from small town Gävle in the North of Sweden have created a musical hybrid of their own, sharing the heartbeats and blood circulation of Kula Shaker, Doors, as well as early U2, Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin. IUBAR did their live debut at the Hayal Kahvesi Club in Istanbul late 2003, and their debut album Invitation II Dig carry influences from their musical meetings in Turkey that winter.
IUBAR was founded by guitarist Steven Kautzky Andersson, previously Grammis-nominated for his solo works, and the eccentric singer Victor Björklund. Their song writing brings a unique combination of ethereal pop melodies embedded in a sound of traditional Swedish and Oriental folk tones, electrified with rock n’ roll.
Steven Kautzky Andersson has previously released two solo albums under the name GIPSY POWER on major labels, and was ranked one of top ten guitar players in Japan, in the company of Michael Schenker, Uli Jon Roth and John Norum, to name a few. He has also studied the Arabic string instrument Tar under one of the great masters, Ali Shakouri from Iran. In the spring of 1993 he moved to Vienna, Austria. Strongly influenced by the Hungarian folk music and eastern gipsy music, he started the project GIPSY POWER whose albums were praised by critics and still are hot items among collectors.
IUBAR is something else. You need to experience it.
